The Meaning of Likhat
Likhat means written — and that's exactly what clothing is. A record. A signature. A quiet declaration of who you are today.
We started Likhat because we kept choosing between clothes that felt good and clothes that were good. Natural fabrics, real craft, and a price that doesn't punish you for caring — that's what we set out to make. Based in Ahmedabad, one of India's oldest textile cities, we work with cotton and linen that breathe, soften, and earn their keep over time. Embroidery and surface details are done by local artisans — hands that have spent years making the ordinary feel considered. Our sourcing is something we're building with intention — not perfect yet, but honest, and always moving toward better.
The clothes aren't minimal. They're expressive — prints and textures that feel like something you chose, not something you settled for. A little quirky, unapologetically comfortable, and made to be fashionable through every chapter.
Likhat was founded by someone who studied fashion and then studied the cost of it — a FIT graduate who went on to study Environmental Sciences at NYU, and came back to India asking a simple question: why can't clothes be both beautiful and responsible? That question is still the brief.
Slow fashion, but make it fun.
The Art of Slow Fashion
We believe that fashion should be a reflection of our lives, not a cycle of waste. By working with natural fabrics like cotton and linen, we ensure that every garment we create is as kind to the earth as it is to you. Our slow fashion philosophy is rooted in the beauty of the handmade and the wisdom of the seasons.
